Faculty

The American West needs a new paradigm of water management that includes advanced technologies and techniques, new market mechanisms, and restructured institutions and business models that meet the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations. Unlike most water managers and policymakers, it is the role of academia to imagine alternative futures, take risks and explore new boundaries. We seek faculty wishing to engage in interdisciplinary applied research today. Contact Leon Szeptycki for more information.

Industry Leaders

Water in the West is partnering with many businesses, local, state and federal agencies, as well as trade associations and environmental groups, to build and exchange knowledge, gather unbiased data, develop cutting-edge tools and engage in large-scale field experiments. We connect water industry practitioners and policymakers with students seeking applied research projects, jobs and internship opportunities. Contact us to find out how you can get involved with Water in the West.

Students

In addition to research and dialogue, Water in the West is committed to training the leaders of today and tomorrow about the intricacies and challenges of western water management. We can help students connect with outside organizations for internships, summer opportunities, or research projects. We also occasionally seek research assistance within the program. If you are a current or prospective student at Stanford, check out the Education page or contact us for more information.
