Water in the West hosts workshops, dialogues and other events, bringing together leaders, professionals, stakeholders and academic experts in the fields of water research and water management to inform and examine pressing western water issues. These events are an opportunity for those in the public, private and academic sectors to learn more about water challenges in the west and gain insights into potential solutions.

Stanford's Water in the West Program along with Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, Environmental Defense Fund, The Nature Conservancy and Conservation Pathways held an Uncommon Dialogue at Stanford University to discuss the opportunities and challenges to Dynamic Conservation.

Please join us on January 25th as we celebrate the 2016 Knight-Risser Prize winner Ian James and his colleagues at the Desert Sun and USA Today. Their report, “Pumped Dry” explored groundwater overdraft in the American West and worldwide, revealing a looming crisis. Sponsored by the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships and the Bill Lane Center for the American West.
