Groundwater Basins in Overdraft

Basins specified as being at risk according to a 1980 study. Although California has not updated the surveys in the last three decades, the Department of Water Resources recently reported that across most of the state groundwater levels have dropped 50 feet below historic lows, with levels in many areas in the San Joaquin Valley more than 100 feet below previous historic lows.
