Dramatic new water restrictions are being proposed for California residents.
If approved, they would begin in 2025.
The proposed restrictions come from the State Water Resources Control Board. Felicia Marcus is the boards former chair, she says the proposed new restrictions involves a long term not a short term approach.
Marcus says that conserving and storing water is essential, especially as the climate change crisis worsens. The new regulations would require significant data tracking and monitoring, as well as new local customer programs for various sectors, which could be costly.
